Poll Results: Emergency Funds
We want to thank those of you who took a moment to answer last month's poll question: "How confident are you that your emergency funds will cover unexpected expenses?"
About two-thirds of you shared that you are mostly or extremely confident in your ability to cover unexpected expenses. That is good news and comforting to hear as our goals are to help you save for the long-term and focus on your overall financial wellness. This includes managing debt.
About one-third of respondents shared that they were not so confident in their ability to cover unexpected expenses, were not sure if they had enough saved, or already knew that they didn't have an emergency fund. Here's where we want to emphasize strategies and resources available to assist with debt reduction and debt management. Some of the resources you can use, include:
- How to Build an Emergency Fund Now — Article with tips for building emergency savings in today's economy
- Retirement Education Center — Resource with several calculators, videos, flyers, and more
- Deal with Debt — Calculator and suggested next steps for dealing with debt
- Employment Transition Resources — Action plan and additional resources for those whose employment may have been impacted, for example, by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic
