ICMA-RC Supports Additional Congressional Relief for Local and State Governments

Congress reconvened on July 20, 2020, and discussions are underway for a fourth legislative package to address the impacts of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. ICMA-RC supports efforts aimed at providing additional flexibility to funding for local and state governments under the Coronavirus Relief Fund (Section 5001 of the CARES Act). This flexibility will provide much needed relief to help avoid cutbacks and furloughs, support the safe reopening of schools and maintain service levels in your communities.

As part of our mission to serve you, we have communicated our support for this legislation directly with senators in all 50 states. Additionally, ICMA-RC has provided plan sponsors with an online platform to connect with elected officials to join in voicing their support for this relief.

We are proud to serve you and we thank you for continuing to provide essential services to your communities through these unprecedented times.
